Timely Thoughts is an independent, government-unaffiliated, free, privately-run news, analysis and commentary resource which objective is to provide English speaking audiences with popular (and not necessarily official) Russian perspective on the events in the former Soviet Union and elsewhere in the world.

Timely Thoughts promotes journalistic diversity by publishing translated commentary and opinion pieces from free Russian language media which would otherwise have no chance of appearing in main-stream English language propaganda outfits.

The Timely Thoughts is looking for articles, commentary and opinions about greater Russia in its historic borders and about Baltic region, EU expansion, the rise of ethnic fascism in Estonia and Latvia and a variety of other appropriate topics. Business news and commentary as well as articles on history, travel, art and culture are especially sought.

Work can be published anonymously or under your penname, however if you elect to submit articles under your own name please consider including a brief bio. We are also looking for translations of commentary, editorial opinion and other articles from the Russian press that does not get much foreign language exposure.

All submissions for this project should be in English however we intend to start parallel Russian and German language versions and are looking for contributors and volunteer editors.

Submissions should be a maximum of 2000 words, though longer texts will also be considered. Submissions — unless these are abstract commentaries or work of fiction — should contain references either to web sources or a bibliography of published sources.

Those who are not professional commentators, experts, journalists, writers or pundits are especially encouraged to send in their commentary, articles and other kinds of work.
Copyrights will remain with the authors.

We are also looking for volunteer editors.
